Facebook Chat is currently 100% browser based, but if it had a desktop client, Chit Chat would be it. What’s nice about Chit Chat is that it’s a client for Facebook IM, and absolutely nothing else. It’s very functional, but it doesn’t try to be more than what it is.
I like Chit Chat’s instant notification system. You can minimize the program to the system tray and you’ll get your alerts without having your browser open to Facebook.com. Like most IM clients, it logs your chat history, which is useful because Facebook Chat automatically clears your history when you finish your conversation. There’s also a cool tabbed interface that allows you to chat with multiple friends at once.
Developer Dan Offer tells that there are “new product releases expected next month and a new major release coming next month too.” Chit Chat is managed by a small team, and they’re not seeking funding of any kind.
