The World First 16 Core Processor Introduced by AMD [AMD Opteron 6200]

AMD has got into a new era of nano technologies, Today they've Introduced the world first 16 Core MicroProcessors on a single chip. These16 Core Processor use AMD’s Bulldozer computing cores which they recently introduced. And it's almost 35-30% more faster than it's predecessors. Opteron 6200 chips, code-named 'Interlagos'  gives enterprise servers better perfromance and power efficiency.

As you know this 16 Core Processor is built for Server Computers so it can give it's best performance and run many independent tasks simultaneously.

The Family of AMD Opteron 6200 includes 6262 HE, 6272, 6274, 6276, 6282 SE Chips which varies according to their prices, Which runs at clock speeds between 1.6GHz and 2.6GHz, and are priced between US$500 and $1,000.

These new chips will be included in Systems and released in the markets in upcoming weeks. Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Cray and Acer will be shipping these new chips on their systems.

AMD also announced the availability of Opteron 4200 chips, which will come with between six and eight cores. The chips operate at clock speeds between 1.6GHz and 3.0GHz, and are priced between $125 and $377.

John Fruehe, director of product marketing at AMD said:
"When you look at some of the things like ARM, good technology, but when you look at the server markets and the needs ... they are really only hitting a small part of the market way down at the bottom where some of these things don't matter,"
"There's no way that a 1.4GHz ARM processor is going to be able to perform at the same level as an x86 processor,"
